Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives and R.I. delegation visit ASFT AUV lab
July, 11 2009ASFT welcomed Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the US House of Representatives, along with Congressman Kennedy and Congressman Langevin to tour the AUV lab. Also in attendance were Keith Stokes, Executive Director of the Newport Chamber of Commerce, who was leading the Speaker and the Delegation on a tour of the Aquidneck Office Park, John Riendeau, Defense Sector Lead - RI Economic Development Corporation and other officials from the Town of Middletown.
The Speaker was briefed on our FY'10 Phase Two plans along with ASFT's SBIR efforts. The Speaker commended ASFT's continued commitment to providing efficient solutions to support and safeguard the Fleet. Congressman Kennedy also led a discussion on the future cross-applications of our AUV efforts to port security and other homeland security and international priorities. The Delegation's detailed knowledge and outstanding support of the defense industry in RI continues to be a key to our success.
