Since 2005, ASFT has been providing outstanding engineering support for all aspects of AUV engineering. From engineering project planning through in-water testing and evaluation, ASFT personnel have provided engineering support to the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport (NUWCDIVNPT) for the various phases of AUV development. ASFT analysts have reviewed and performed assessments of the status of cost goals and initiatives of the US Navy's UUV program and developed the NUWCDIVNPT Mission Reconfigurable Unmanned Underwater Vehicle System (MRUUVS) Program Life Cycle Cost Estimate model, and updated the appropriate MRUUVS cost related documentation such as the Capabilities Development Document (CDD) and the Cost Analysis Requirements Description (CARD). ASFT has a commercial initiative underway to design, conduct research and development (R&D), payload and vehicle Systems Integration and Test and Evaluation (T&E) of Autonomous Vehicles. This effort will be developed in the ASFT AUV laboratory in its Middletown, Rhode Island facility using an open architecture and a modular approach for hosting a variety of sensors to accommodate multiple missions. Additional information on this ASFT initiative can be found on our new AUV website.
