ASFT manages over $65 million in customer-owned property as a Third Party Logistics Provider for the U.S. Department of Defense. ASFT provides material procurement, warehousing, and shipping services using a property control and material purchasing system approved for use with federal contracts. Auditors consistently report that they are "exceptionally pleased with the accuracy and organization of the records, files and material inventories." In fact, the Naval Sea Systems Command significantly increased its ability to sustain Total Asset Visibility (TAV) using ASFT’s web-enabled tools to forecast material needs and manage inventory movement. ASFT employs Traditional Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) models to support “just-in-case” and “just-in-time” objectives depending on the operational requirements’ preference for readiness or cost, and material is able to be identified and tracked with barcoding or UID technology. Using ASFT’s value-adding engineering services for testing, repair, and analysis of item obsolescence, the Navy’s Equipment Life Cycle Managers are able to ensure that supply support processes are fully integrated into ongoing design changes and into technical refresh programs to replace existing equipment and components.

Maintenance & Repair: ASFT is designated as "a facility to receive failed items in various material conditions for repair through agreements with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and vendors." Personnel perform equipment disassembly, cataloging, kitting, and testing according to applicable equipment manuals, allowance documents, and regulations to meet operational requirements.

Technology Insertion & Risk Mitigation: ASFT logisticians constantly perform market research analysis to identify alternate sources for components to mitigate Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS). Personnel work aggressively with OEMs and distributors to ensure that notification is received when items go out of production. ASFT works with system engineers to leverage interchangeability among multiple manufacturers, maximizing “plug and play” configurations and mitigating risks of obsolete parts.
